Durango Area Info

Durango is the county seat for a larger community of close to 50,000. This diverse mix of people live in all corners of the county, but typically come to Durango to do business. Durango has all services including Fort Lewis College, The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and access to hundreds of pristine miles of forest. Durango has many fine-dining establishments, art galleries, and boutiques. And the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down; live music fills the nights and dancing is not uncommon.

Durango has just added a new Community Recreation Center with gyms, raquetball courts, a pool, spas and much more. The town is divided by the beautiful (and bountiful) Animas river, along which there is a paved bike path from one end of town to the other. The river thriving center of activity in the summertime, attracting every sort of person you can find in Durango.

25 miles north of Durango lies Durango Mountain Resort, 10 chair lifts of classic Southwest Colorado skiing (read: great snow, sunshine, and warm days) . To the Northeast lies Lemon and Vallecito reservoirs, beautiful mountain lakes, and the Wemmenuche Wilderness, one of the largest roadless areas in the US. East lies forest and farmland up to the continental divide and Wolf Creek ski area. And finally, South and West take you to beautiful desert, rivers, and lakes where you can warm up on cold winter days.

Put simply, Durango is one of the best places to live on Earth. Great Schools, Great People, and Great Land come together in a place that residents are proud to call home. Let us help you find your piece of this paradise.
