Real estate foreclosures are on the rise in Durango, just like the rest of the country. See Saturday’s Durango Herald Article, click here. There were 297 foreclosure actions in La Plata Country for 2009 and 45 through February. However, most foreclosed homes do not end up selling at auction. This can be a frustrating fact for buyers trying to buy a home a the courthouse steps.
To find out how to research and go about buying foreclosure properties read my two blog posts I wrote last fall, after buying a property for my own books. If you have questions don’t hesitate to call or email.
How to buy a foreclosure property at auction in Durango, Colorado and make sure to click on the second post for invaluable information and links to assessor’s database, GIS maps, title and tax info, and more.
Finally, if you know anyone who is not keeping up with their payments, please let them know that there is a free legal service that can help avoid foreclosures in Colorado. 4 our of 5 families who met with somebody form the foreclosure hotline was able to avoid foreclosure. http://www.coloradoforeclosurehotline.org/
